The 24th International Blues Challenge...the biggest ever...100 bands & 60 solo/duo acts will compete in sixteen clubs along Beale St...the semi-finalist hail from six continents, 10 countries, and 36 states.

Thursday - 1st day in Memphis

1:00 PM - A quick meeting at the official IBC noon check-in at the Double Tree Inn,
two-blocks from Beale Street in Memphis

International Blues Challenge - 2008

The Blues Foundation, a Memphis-based organization that brings together 107 blues societies (members and affiliates in 44 countries) from around the world, sponsors this event, which includes both a conference on the blues ( housed at the Radisson Hotel ) and performances by artists competing in the challenge in many of the clubs on Beale Street. A USD12 wristband allows wearers entrance into all the clubs on Beale, while USD10 covers admission to the final competition at the Orpheum Theater . The event culminates in the Keeping the Blues Alive award ceremony at the Radisson.

Their first set will be here tonight at 8:35 pm. Later in the day a malfunction in the PA met that the first band in the competition, originally slated to start at 5:30pm,
was delayed by forty minutes
